| The liposuction tumescent technique was first
introduced in the mid-1980s. Since its introduction, minor modifications
have been made on the tumescent approach. The tumescent
liposuction technique was able to popularize the cosmetic
surgery procedure that had been associated to large blood loss
and a few deaths in the past. Considered the second most major
advance in liposuction, the tumescent technique offered improved
safety in conjunction with better cosmetic results. Patients
are able to undergo the cosmetic surgery procedure outside of
a hospital with controlled breathing and bodily functions with
tumescent liposuction.
The tumescent liposuction technique is a more recent introduction
to cosmetic
surgery. 
The ideal tumescent liposuction candidate be at their ideal
body weight and have firm, elastic skin but have problematic
areas of fat in pocket areas that have been unresponsive to
diet and exercise.
A patient wishing to undergo any type of cosmetic surgery
should understand that while a procedure can enhance their
appearance it probably will not eliminate all appearances
of cellulite.
